Seriously, Who Books This Crap?
Yes, I was one of the few and the proud. I watched the stream off and on today and saw the lowest numbers of the entire season for first round matches. The stream count barely broke 100 for most of the day. Some will say that this was due to the fact that TAR was streaming the men’s matches, but if you take a look at this screenshot, you’ll see that TAR wasn’t having much success either.
Yeah, you saw it right. 121 viewers for the WPBA and 306 viewers for the all powerful Action Report. Now the WPBA has somewhat of an excuse with their godawful booking for the first day. I mean seriously, you book Val Finne/Tracie Hines over Monica Webb/Anna K.??? Freaking brilliant.
This of course brings me to another question. If TAR pulls 300 viewers when they give it away for free, how many people actually pay for this crap? 50 people? 100 people? MMA this ain’t kids.
As for winners and losers, the big story is obviously Anonymous Pool Player #5 losing to someone named Vicki Paski. All I’m gonna say about that is commentating for the competition (and yes, TAR’s broadcast is competition for the WPBA at this event) is not a great way to generate positive karma. Everyone knows how much I dig little #5, but you’ve gotta show love for the organization who actually pays you when you play (even if they don’t pay much) even if its your buddy that’s in the booth next door.
As for Monica Webb, well she barely made it by Anna K. which means that even when she loses to XTP in the third round, she’s still going to make the redraw. I’m not ready to concede my cruller just yet, but its gonna take a whole heap of bad pool playing for Monica to not make the redraw.
Again I will say it Liz Ford looks hot when she plays on the TV table – hair done up with a stylish colored bandana – taking control of the match as Line slam dunked her way to the losers’ bracket firing “line drives” while messing up position. I understand the black getup thing but some wear it well – Xpan, Melissa Herndon, Ga Young, Black Widow, Allison etc., but Line could use a makeover and add a little colour.
Liz Ford is a stone cold fox on or off the table. Plus, she’s one win away from the redraw and is playing some solid pool this event. I’ve been waiting all year for her to break out, so hopefully this will be her time. As for Line, I do believe the proper description for her look is “rode hard and put away wet”.
