2008 WPBA Championships - Quarterfinals Set

November 15th, 2008

All I can say is TV round yo!  The pocket sized pixie Sarah Rousey who I dig eversomuch will be making her debut on ESPN after once again taking out queen bee Allison Fisher.  Rousey didn’t just eek by either.  We’re talkin’ 9-4 woodshed style!  Seriously, how pimp is that?!?!  Next up, Rousey has Gerda Hofstatter and the winner will then meet the winner of the Kelly Fisher vs. Helena Thornfeldt match.

In the other half of the bracket, Xiaoting Pan is matched up against Vivian Villareal and Monica Webb will look to take down Karen Corr, who’s been really looking like the Karen Corr of old in this tournament.  Karen’s been drilling everyone she’s faced, with her closest match being a 9-4 rout of “J Thug” Jeanette Lee.

Predictions anyone?  Here’s how I see it (which usually means it will end up nothing like this):

Quarterfinals
Kelly Fisher over Helena Thornfeldt
Sarah Rousey over Gerda Hofstatter
Xiaoting Pan over Vivian Villarreal
Karen Corr over Monica Webb

Semifinals
Sarah Rousey over Kelly Fisher
Xiaoting Pan over Karen Corr

Finals
Sarah Rousey over Karen Corr

Like I’m not going to pick Sarah… have you not been reading this blog for the past year??

Now on the off chance that Sarah doesn’t run the table, Kelly Fisher will probably take down her 3rd title for 2008.  No chance of that though.  Look at the concentration, the focus, the sheer Momma Said Knock You Out tenacity.

Ok, I’ll be back tonight with recaps.  As for the TV attire, I’m looking for something fresh and different.  Something memorable.  Something that says “I’m cool. I’m hip. I’m down. I’m with it”.  In a word (well two, but who’s counting) - Hammer Pants!

I hope Sarah gets her first WPBA title with this one! She can start the era of Pixie domination of the WPBA (champions 5′4″ and below).

Would be good to see a new face take one of these down for a change.
