Sardo Tight Rack
February 18th, 2007 by poolcuereview
What can you say about the ubiquitous Sardo Tight Rack. Developed by Lou Sardo, the Sardo Tight Rack can be seen in pretty much every tournament that’s ever been televised. The latest version of the Sardo is the M-5000, which is lighter and about $100 cheaper than the old M-3000. Its a good rack and well worth the money if you’re a regular player. If you don’t play that often, you probably don’t care about having a tight rack, in which case a regular wood or plastic rack would be fine for you.
The Specs:
Weight: 1.5 lbs
Materials: Plastic
Height from Table: 4 inches
Warranty: 3 Year Limited
The Pros:
For starters, the cost. At $59.95, the rack is on par with other “performance racks” such as the Chameleon Rack. The construction is surprisingly durable and racking a game of 8 ball with the Sardo Rack is pretty damn easy. Technically, you will extend the life of your table cloth with it, as you’re not dragging the rack back and forth over the cloth.
The Cons:
I personally don’t like how it racks games other than 8 ball. You can rack 9 through 15 balls, but really the only way it feels truly comfortable is racking all 15 balls. Other than that, the only other con is that it is really an ugly piece of equipment and doesn’t store as easily as a standard rack.
How much should you spend: Typically around 60 bucks.
